Thomas Yeh
Thomas Yeh is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and a Senior member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Within the AEE, Mr. Yeh is also a Senior member in the Facility Managers Institute of AEE, a Senior member in the Energy Services Marketing Society of AEE, a Senior member in the Cogeneration & Distributed Generation Institute of AEE, a Senior member of the Alternative & Renewable Energy Development Institute of AEE, and a Senior member in the Environmental Engineers & Managers Institute of AEE.
Mr. Yeh has completed the "Energy Management: Energy Auditing" training of the AEE and has extensive experience conducting building energy performance studies in accordance with the ASHRAE Standard 105-2007 "Standard Methods of Measuring, Expressing and Comparing Building Energy Performance." Since 2009, Mr. Yeh has conducted over 30 energy performance studies on facilities spanning office buildings, health complexes, town and city halls, libraries, community centers, water treatment and wastewater treatment plants. The studies covered measures such as energy efficiency and replacement of lighting technologies, cooling and heating systems, energy management systems, boilers, building envelop, and fenestrations.
Thomas Yeh has extensive experience in the computer modeling of buildings and facilities using the US Department of Energy's (US DOE) EnergyPlus program. EnergyPlus models heating, cooling, lighting, ventilating, and other energy flows as well as water in buildings. EnergyPlus includes many innovative simulation capabilities such as time steps of less than an hour, modular systems and plant integrated with heat balance-based zone simulation, multizone air flow, thermal comfort, water use, natural ventilation, and photovoltaic systems.
Mr. Yeh has served as the Principal Investigator in numerous DOE co-funded cooperative development projects and NYSERDA co-funded projects involving collaborative research, development and demonstration of energy technologies by universities, national laboratories, state energy agencies and private companies. Thomas Yeh also has served as the section chair in numerous industry conferences, as a reviewer for DOE grant awardes, and as a reviewer for private venture investment groups.
Since 1997 Mr. Yeh has been deeply involved with many entrepreneurial endeavors ranging from launching business divisions within established companies, co-founding a start-up, act as an advisor to other entrepreneurs, and taking on interim executive roles in early stage companies. Mr. Yeh has successfully performed critical functions ranging from business plan development, capital raising, product development, customer acquisition, to staging data centers and building research and development teams.
Thomas Yeh holds 19 Patents and earned degrees in Bachelor and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technologies, and has completed the Master of Science of Computer Science program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Yeh was also a Visiting Professor for two academic years at the Rochester Institute of Technologies.
